FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polymer latex used as binders in making fibrous structures. Disclosed is a polymer latex for producing a binder obtained by emulsion polymerisation in an aqueous medium of a mixture of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, containing: (a) from more than 60 to 75 wt.% of at least one aliphatic conjugated diene, (b) from 10 to 30 wt.% of at least one vinyl aromatic compound; and (c) from 0.5 to 5 wt.% of at least one ethylenically unsaturated silane containing at least one hydrolysable group bonded to silicon; (d) from 0.1 to 8 wt.% of at least one ethylenically unsaturated acid; and (e) from 0 to 20 wt.% of at least one additional ethylenically unsaturated compound, different from any of compounds from (a) to (d), wherein the weight percentages are obtained based on the total amount of monomers and total 100 wt.%. Also disclosed is a binder containing said latex for a fibrous structure, a fibrous structure reinforced with said binder, as well as use of latex, a binder and a fibrous structure.
EFFECT: disclosed latex and binder containing it do not release formaldehyde during hardening, without deterioration of characteristics of fibrous structure.
