SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of degree of luminescence of eggshell surface. Method for pre-incubation selection of quail eggs involves irradiation of eggs with ultraviolet light, followed by digital photographing, in which the obtained photographs are sent to the QGIS program, resulting in a file with initial data in the form of a colour image of eggs with different luminescence.

EFFECT: due to the fact that a clear image of each egg is previously obtained, then initial data are obtained, which are subjected to computer processing and an individual assessment for each egg is obtained, eggs with the number of pixels from 76 and more in the red spectrum have the highest incubation properties; the accuracy of pre-incubation selection is increased and hatching of chicks is increased to 93_9%, and hatchability is increased to 96,0% of eggs with a bright degree of luminescence.
