FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems and methods for automatic location of audio devices. Disclosed method may include receiving direction of arrival (DOA) data corresponding to sound emitted by a first intelligent audio device in an audio environment, which includes a first audio transmitter and a first audio receiver, wherein the DOA data correspond to sound received by a second intelligent audio device in an audio environment, which includes a second audio transmitter and a second audio receiver, wherein the DOA data correspond to sound emitted by the second intelligent audio device and received by the first intelligent audio device, receiving configuration parameters corresponding to an audio environment, audio devices or both, and minimizing a cost function based on the DOA data and configuration parameters for estimating the position and orientation of the first and second intelligent audio devices. Also disclosed are a device and a system for localizing audio devices in an audio environment and a persistent medium.

EFFECT: enabling localization of a set of intelligent audio devices based on direction of arrival (DOA) data between each pair of audio devices in an audio environment and minimizing the problem of nonlinear optimization without the need for synchronism between devices.
