FIELD: gas transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used at compressor stations of main gas pipelines with gas turbine and electrically driven gas compressor units. Increase of electric power and thermal efficiency of power plant, which drives high-temperature electric-driven gas pumping units, and reducing the cost of transporting gas through the main gas pipelines is achieved by the fact that in the method of operating the compressor station of the main gas pipeline with a power plant, at which exhaust gases of at least two gas pumping units are combined, supplied to a waste heat boiler, additional fuel is burnt in it, superheated high-pressure steam generated therein is expanded in a high-speed steam turbine, condensed, steam condensate is used to generate high-pressure superheated steam; fuel gas of all gas turbine gas pumping units of the compressor station is taken from the main gas pipeline, heated by heat carrier heat and expanded in additional high-speed turbine expander; useful operation of steam turbine and additional turbine expander is used to drive high-speed electric generator of power plant, generated electric power of increased frequency is supplied to high-speed electric drive gas pumping unit.

EFFECT: method provides higher electric power and thermal efficiency of power plant, higher efficiency of gas transportation via main gas pipeline.
