FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to a method for producing composite powders based on double titanium-chromium carbide, which can be used to apply protective corrosion-resistant coatings in the aviation and mechanical engineering industries. Initial mixture containing titanium, chromium, carbon and nichrome as a metal binder is agglomerated using a solution based on ethyl alcohol containing 13–15 wt.% of polyvinyl butyral. Obtained agglomerates are dried in air, the reaction mixture is placed in a reactor and ignited. Synthesis is carried out in a combustion mode in a flow-type reactor with a constant flow of an inert gas with a flow rate of 300–500 l/h.
EFFECT: obtaining powder of double titanium-chromium carbide with grain size less than 10 mcm and uniform distribution of metal binder on grains.
