FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to search for a sunken radiation source and can be used to search for sunken in the sea radiation sources by an autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle (AUUV). Performing a combined search for a radiation source using AUUV technical means, including hydroacoustic, radiation, magnetometric, optoelectronic equipment, an on-board computer, searching is performed by successively connecting and disconnecting technical means based on different physical principles of detecting a radiation source, as a radiation search means, an ultraviolet camera is used, which detects radiation in the wavelength range of 240–280 nm, technical means with lower performance are connected after obtaining positive search results with more productive technical means, decision to proceed to the next search stage or return to the initial search route is carried out by a fuzzy inference algorithm for recognizing a radiation source and algorithms for fractal coding and recognizing objects from photographs and hydroacoustic images, in case of a positive conclusion on the detected object, a request for confirmation of the end of the search is sent to the AUUV control station via the available communication channel.

EFFECT: automatic control of technical search facilities of AUUV and efficient use of energy resources of AUUV in process of RS search.
