SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a reactor and to a method for controlling a descending layer in a reactor. Method includes steps of: (i) filling upper sluice bin with granulated material and/or emptying lower sluice bin, (ii) purging the sluice bins with a purge gas, (iii) filling the reaction chamber comprising the descending moving bed from the upper sluice bin and/or emptying the reaction chamber into the lower sluice bin, wherein pressure equalization between reaction chamber and sluice hopper is provided by means of product gas, (iv) if necessary, unloading of sluice bins and transportation of product gas flow to product pipeline and (v) blowing of sluice bins with purge gas.
EFFECT: present invention is based on the task of reducing the flow rate of purging gas, mainly nitrogen, when using loading and discharge sluices such as sluice bins; in addition, the task is to exclude the formation of combustible gas mixtures, which can be formed during uncontrolled contact of gas from the reaction chamber with the surrounding atmosphere; in addition, the task is to minimize product losses when using lock bins; in addition, the task is to minimize contamination of the product flow with a purge gas, mainly nitrogen.
