FIELD: chemical processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the chemical industry. Method for producing molecular hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and a carbon-containing product includes providing molecular hydrogen and molecular oxygen; heating the layer of carbon-containing material to a temperature over 800°C due to the reaction of molecular hydrogen with molecular oxygen; removing the resulting synthesis gas containing molecular hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The molecular hydrogen and molecular oxygen are stopped being provided when the temperature of the layer of carbon-containing material reaches 1,800°C. A gaseous hydrocarbon flow is provided, and the hydrocarbon is decomposed in the presence of the layer of carbon-containing material, resulting in carbon and molecular hydrogen. The molecular hydrogen is then removed, and the gaseous hydrocarbon flow is stopped being provided when the temperature of the layer of carbon-containing material becomes less than or equal to 900°C. At least part of the carbon-containing material containing the carbon-containing product is removed. Proposed is an application of the resulting carbon-containing product as an electrode material.

EFFECT: facilitated production of molecular hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a carbon-containing product, reduced power consumption and CO2 generation.
