FIELD: production of composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing composite powders based on titanium carbide, which is used as a wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant coating. Method involves mixing initial materials in the form of titanium carbide, nickel and hexagonal boron nitride using polyvinyl alcohol until a suspension in an attritor is obtained for at least 1 hour, its spray drying to obtain spherical particles of titanium carbide with a shell of nickel and boron nitride and their plasma spheroidization with a carrier gas in the form of a gas-dynamic flow. Spherical particles obtained after spray drying are sent to the first stage of classification with obtaining particles with size of 32–63 mcm, which are sent for spheroidization. Particles after the first stage of classification with a size of less than 32 mcm are sent for mixing in an attritor, and particles with size of more than 63 mcm are sent for grinding to size of 3 mcm, which are sent for mixing of initial materials. Powder obtained after spheroidization is sent to the second stage of classification to produce finished powder with granule size of 20–45 mcm.
EFFECT: obtaining uniformly coated powder of titanium carbide with a shell of nickel and hexagonal boron nitride with uniform granulometric composition.
