FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related in particular to production of a composite material based on titanium carbide. It can be used as a wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant coating applied by the gas-flame method. Raw materials, titanium carbide, nickel and hexagonal boron nitride with an equal particle size of not more than 1.5 mcm, are mixed in a mixer-granulator using polyvinyl alcohol to obtain a suspension. The suspension is subjected to spray drying to obtain spherical particles of titanium carbide with a shell of hexagonal boron nitride and nickel. The resulting particles are subjected to plasma spheroidization by a carrier gas in the form of a gas-dispersed flow.

EFFECT: obtaining a spherical powder of a composite material based on titanium carbide with a uniform particle size distribution and high adhesion of particles.
