SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to urology, and can be used to predict the risk of developing erectile dysfunction in patients undergoing low-dose brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Study involves determining the patient’s age, assessing the level of erectile function, presence or absence of obesity, ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension. Blood test is used to detect the presence or absence of hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, hypoalbuminemia, hypothyroidism, hyperprolactinemia, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, hyperestradiolemia, anaemia. To determine the presence or absence of urinary tract infections, a general urine analysis is performed. In addition, based on surveys, the presence or absence of alcohol and nicotine addiction, significant health problems, the level of anxiety or depression, the level of prostatic symptoms are determined, level of daily physical activity, which is expressed in number of passed steps per day, level of age deficit. Derived results are assigned a level of significance and intensity of symptoms from 0 to 2 and a risk index ∑ is calculated according to the presented formula. In case index ∑ is less than or equal to 15, then a low risk of developing erectile dysfunction is predicted, if the index ∑ is more than 16, a high risk is predicted.

EFFECT: method is easy to use and enables to predict the risk of developing erectile dysfunction at the stage of screening in patients after low-dose brachytherapy of prostate cancer for the purpose of timely treatment and prevention of erectile dysfunction.
