FIELD: medicine; dentistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery, and can be used to assess the attractiveness of a face profile. Following points are determined on the photograph of the patient’s face profile obtained by means of photometry: a is the deepest point on the contour of the base of the nasal septum and upper lip; b is the deepest point on the contour of the lower lip and chin; n—nasion is a skin projection of the bone point corresponding to the transition point of the nasal bone into the frontal bone; cm—columella—most protruding point on lower contour of nose; gl—glabella—most protruding point of frontal bone; ils—inferior labial sulcus—the deepest point of the supramental fold; Li—labialis inferioris—most protruding point of red border of lower lip; Ls—labialis superioris—most protruding point of red border of upper lip; Me—menton is the lowest point on the tissue contour of the lower part of the chin; cL is a tangent to the chin drawn from the point ils and passing through the point pg; pg—pogonion is the most protruding front point on the chin contour; pr—pronasale—point of nose tip; sn—subnasale—transition point of lower part of nose to upper lip; snH is a straight line drawn in a sagittal plane through a point sn and parallel to the plane of sight; prH is the projection of the point pr on the straight line snH; st—stomion—point of intersection of the line of lip closure with the median-sagittal plane. According to these points, the soft tissue convexity angle, the face profile angle, the nasolabial angle, the nasolabial angle, the lip convexity angle, the projection length of the nose are determined, vertical ratio of heights of upper lip and lower lip with chin. Further, an index of the integral assessment of the attractiveness of the face profile is calculated. Obtained result is rounded to the nearest hundredths and interpreted on a scale, where the obtained value from 4.50 to 5.0 corresponds to an extremely attractive profile, from 3.50 to 4.49—to an attractive profile, from 2.50 to 3.49 denotes an average attractiveness of the profile, from 2.01 to 2.49—an unattractive profile and less than 2.0—an extremely unattractive face profile.
EFFECT: method provides objectification of assessment of face profile in patients before and after orthodontic, orthodontic-surgical and reconstructive surgical treatment due to determination of index of integral assessment of attractiveness of face profile.
