METHOD OF PRODUCING LOW-LAYER FORMS OF REDUCED GRAPHENE OXIDE FROM GRAPHITE BY SINGLE-REACTOR METHOD Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC C01B32/198 B82Y40/00

Abstract RU 2829356 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry and nanotechnology and can be used in making supercapacitors. First, the initial graphite is subjected to oxidative treatment with a mixture of sulphuric acid and potassium permanganate. Oxidation is completed by diluting the reaction mixture with water and adding hydrogen peroxide. Further, a step of reducing treatment of the obtained intermediate product in form of graphene oxide is carried out with ascorbic acid, which is added immediately after the completion of the oxidation process. Obtained mixture is held at 95 °C for 30 minutes. Initial graphite and ascorbic acid are used in weight ratios of 1:0.5; 1:1 and 1:3. Said steps are carried out in one reactor, while excluding unloading of graphene oxide from the reactor for its washing, filtration and stratification. After reduction treatment the cage is separated, washed and dried. Thickness of the crystallites in the obtained reduced graphene oxide (RGO) is two layers of carbon. Average particle size is less than 8 mcm, specific electrochemical capacity is up to 135 F/g.

EFFECT: method is suitable for scaling for industrial production; by varying the amount of the reducing agent, it is possible to control the crystal structure and chemical composition of the surface of the RGO.
