FIELD: electrical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for obtaining graphene oxide, which can be used in the field of nanotechnology and the chemical industry as a raw material for obtaining the creation of new generation super-sorbent materials, selective membranes. The method for obtaining graphene oxide from glucose includes two process stages. First, the process of chemical synthesis of graphene oxide is carried out from a mixture of glucose with phosphorus (V) pentoxide in an exothermic mode at temperatures up to 450°C, which includes graphitization, oxidation and flake exfoliation. Then carry out the electrochemical stage of oxidation and purification of the final product - graphene oxide in a diaphragm cell at a current density of 0.2-1 A/cm2. The mixture after the first stage is formed into plates and placed in the anode compartment of a diaphragm cell. A steel plate or graphite is used as a cathode, and a 10 M aqueous solution of methanesulfonic acid is used as an electrolyte. The temperature during electrolysis is maintained in the range of 40-50°C.
EFFECT: obtaining graphene oxide from glucose without the use of toxic potassium permanganate, nitric acid and strong inorganic oxidizing agents.
