FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used in semiconductor and metallurgical industry for determining gallium ions in natural and waste water. First, a calibration curve of the dependence of the fluorescence intensity of the solution on the known content of Ga3+ ions in it is plotted. To prepare the analysed solution, a solution containing an unknown concentration of Ga3+ ions is added to an indicator solution in a mixture of buffer : dimethyl sulphoxide = 1:9, vol./vol., at pH 7.4. Indicator used is pyridoxal 5'-phosphate-thiophene-3-carbohydrazone, and the buffer is water buffer Tris-HCl. Fluorescence of the analysed solution is then excited at wavelength 414 nm and fluorescence intensity is measured at its amplification at wavelength 471 nm using a fluorimeter. Concentration of Ga3+ ions in the analysed solution is determined from the calibration curve.

EFFECT: invention increases sensitivity and selectivity of qualitative and quantitative determination of Ga3+ ions in solution.
