FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in hardening metal articles with thickness of 1-3 mm by induction surfacing of ferrite wear-resistant alloys. Workpiece with a layer of hardening alloy applied on it is placed in an inductor between two parallel branches of the magnetic conductor using graphite plates, which are fixed on the inner side of both branches of the magnetic conductor. Workpiece is heated by a high-frequency electromagnetic field until reaching the Curie point temperature with subsequent melting of the hardening alloy. Heating temperature of graphite plates is not less than 1,290 °C. Hardening alloy used is a ferrite alloy “ПГ-СР2” applied with a thickness of not more than 1 mm, and holding during its melting is carried out for 6-14 s.
EFFECT: use of a high-frequency electromagnetic field power absorber during induction surfacing with its conversion into thermal energy widens the field of application of surfacing during hardening of thin metal parts, regardless of the frequency of the high-frequency electromagnetic field.
