METHOD FOR DETERMINING INDICATIONS FOR PRESCRIBING OPTICAL CORRECTION WITH DIAGNOSED ASTIGMATISM BASED ON DETERMINING READING SPEED Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B5/00 A61F9/00 A61F2/14

Abstract RU 2830340 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. A maximum reading speed index is determined using a test card with sentences written in different fonts. Before assessing the reading speed criterion, visual acuity, refraction and visual acuity below 1.0, ametropia and astigmatism, the patient is examined for visual acuity with correction with spherical lenses. If visual acuity increases to 1.0 and higher, the patient is examined for a maximum reading speed index with and without correction. If the maximum reading speed index is higher than 1.9 without correction, but below or equal to 1.9 with correction, then it is determined that the patient requires optical correction of astigmatism. In other cases, it is determined that the patient does not need optical correction of astigmatism, wherein the reading speed index is the ratio of the reading speed of the sentence with the font size LogMAR 1.0 and the reading speed of the sentence with the font size LogMAR 0.3.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility to effectively and accurately determine the indications for optical correction with the diagnosis of astigmatism.
