FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing high-purity vanadium (V) oxide. Method of producing vanadium (V) oxide involves preparing a suspension of sodium metavanadate by holding for 5-6 hours while boiling a solution consisting of technical vanadium (V) oxide, water and an alkaline agent – sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate, with molar ratio of technical vanadium to alkaline agent from 1:1 to 1:2. Mother solution is then obtained by filtering the obtained suspension with water, and the precipitate is washed with water. Then the obtained solution is heated at 80-100 °C for 1 hour and the obtained suspension is filtered. Suspension of ammonium metavanadate is obtained by heating the mother solution, to which ammonium chloride has been previously added, at 45-55 °C for 30 minutes, followed by cooling to room temperature and holding for 4 hours. Vanadium oxide is obtained by drying a wet precipitate obtained from a suspension of ammonium metavanadate at 70-90 °C for 3 hours, followed by calcination at 400-420 °C for 1 hour.

EFFECT: higher output of vanadium (V) oxide.
