FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to screw rolling of cylindrical billet. Tensile tests are carried out on samples from material of non-deformed workpiece, values of parameters of the investigated rolling process are determined—diameters of rolls, diameters of gauge formed by rolls in the pinch, roll rotation speed, temperature of the workpiece before rolling. Computer simulation of the screw rolling process is carried out using a computing environment of finite element analysis using results of tensile tests of samples of material of non-deformed workpiece and certain values of parameters of investigated rolling process to determine the gap between the rollers in the pinch, the length of the geometrical deformation zone, the length of the outer zones and the actual length of the deformation zone, which consists of the length of the geometrical deformation zone and the length of the outer zones. Gap between rolls in pinch at rolling is set equal to the gap between rolls at pinch at computer simulation and rolling is performed.
EFFECT: as a result, accurate determination of the size of the actual deformation center is provided.
