SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of purifying ethylene glycol obtained from biological material. This method involves diluting crude ethylene glycol obtained from biological material with water to an ethylene glycol concentration of 1–95 wt.%, continuously passing the diluted aqueous solution of ethylene glycol through an adsorption layer which is filled with one or more macroporous adsorption resins and an optional ion-exchange resin, to obtain a purified aqueous solution of ethylene glycol, and then dehydration to obtain ethylene glycol. Passage through the adsorption layer is carried out at temperature of 0–100 °C and a space velocity of 0.1–20 BV/h.
EFFECT: efficient separation of specific impurities in ethylene glycol obtained from biological raw material to obtain ethylene glycol with high output.
