FIELD: non-destructive testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-destructive testing and diagnostics of technical state of articles. When implementing the method, acceleration sensors are installed on the diagnosed item. By using one or more independent vibration sources, vibration oscillations are created in the controlled structure. Vibration response of the structure, fixed by acceleration sensors, is presented in the form of oscillation portraits: vertical sweeps are performed in proportion to signals of acceleration sensors, and the horizontal ones are proportional to the first harmonics of these signals, which are phase-shifted by pi/2. Fourier transform is applied to scanning of each oscillation portrait. First harmonic is subtracted from the Fourier series; the absolute maximum for the oscillation period is determined in the remainder of the series; the value of this maximum refers to the amplitude of the first harmonic. This ratio is taken as a coefficient of distortion of the oscillation portrait and is used as an identification feature of gaps in the product design.
EFFECT: increased efficiency, reliability and information value in assessing the presence of gaps in complex structures, having both conditionally fixed and movable joints, determination of location and tracking of process of development of defects.
