SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer technology, and more specifically to a system and method of scanning documents using a web browser as a scanning interface. Scanning system includes a server, a personal computer and a scanner, wherein a scanning component is installed on the personal computer, which enables to control the scanning process from a browser, as well as recording files into the memory of a personal computer, and a client-server application is located on the server, which enables to receive and store scanned documents in a database located on the server, wherein the client part of this application forms an interface in the browser which enables a user of a personal computer to interact with both the server and the scanning component.
EFFECT: wider range of technical means for scanning documents from a web browser, which enables scanning large documents without interrupting the process and reducing the load on the channel between the client and the server by passing only the resultant file through the channel.
