FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: method for production of centrifugally cast thin-wall pipes-billets with size of 288×12×5,500 mm from steel with boron content from 2.01 to 3.5% for production of hexagonal pipes-billets with "turnkey" size 257+1.5/-1.0×6±1.0×4,300+80/-20 mm and racks for compacted storage in cooling pools of nuclear power plants and transportation of spent nuclear fuel includes pouring steel into a chill mould, removing a billet and cooling on a rotator, cutting, boring, turning and profiling into hexagonal pipes-billets. Chill mould is heated to 230-280 °C, 0.8-1.2 mm of non-stick lubricant is applied on the inner surface and the casting part of the chill mould is cooled to achieve a uniform temperature drop along length of 30-50 °C from filling end to non-filling end. Cryolite, ferrocerium and aluminium are fed into the ladle in amount of 4, 2 and 1 kg per ton of steel respectively, mixed for 30 s and poured into a chill mould. Chill mould is rotated with a frequency corresponding to a gravitational coefficient of 200-250.

EFFECT: increasing productivity by reducing the steel consumption coefficient during centrifugal casting.
