FIELD: processing of plastics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compression moulding. Technical result is achieved by method of article moulding, which includes the following stages. Use of mould (1; 101; 201; 301; 401; 501), containing first part (2; 102; 202; 302; 502) and second part (3; 103; 203; 303; 503), located opposite each other. One part selected from the first and second parts of the mould contains several sectors (8; 108; 208; 308; 508) for shaping at least the side part of the article. Said sectors confine variable-volume moulding area (4). Placing dosed amount (100; 400; 500) of moulded material between first and second parts of mould when mould is in open position. Movement of the first and second parts of the mould towards each other in the moulding direction (D) to form a closed moulding chamber (17) between these parts of the mould by bringing into contact the corresponding thrust surfaces (71, 72; 571, 572) of the first and second parts of the mould. Thrust surfaces extend across the moulding direction (D). Proposed method further includes a step of moving the sectors across the moulding direction (D) to reduce the volume of the variable-volume moulding area. Mold comprises moulding component (15; 115; 215; 315; 515), which passes into said moulding area of variable volume, thereby compressing moulded material in direction of moulding.

EFFECT: enabling moulding by compression moulding of dosed amount (dose) of moulded material and production of articles having small transverse size in comparison with size of moulded material dose.
