FIELD: chemistry; cables.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a semiconducting composition for use in cables, containing a heterophase propylene copolymer. Semiconductor composition for use in cables contains: (A) 52.0 wt.% to 90 wt.% of a heterophase propylene copolymer having a matrix phase which is a random propylene copolymer and ethylene, and an elastomeric phase dispersed in said matrix phase, based on the total weight of the semiconductor composition, where the heterophasic propylene copolymer (A) includes ethylene comonomer units in a total amount of 7.5 wt.% to 20.0 wt.% based on the total amount of monomer units of the heterophasic propylene copolymer (A), and heterophasic propylene copolymer (A) has a melt flow index MFR2 of 0.5 to 10.0 g/10 min, determined according to ISO 1133 at 230 °C and load 2.16 kg, and modulus of elasticity in bending from 175 to 425 MPa, determined according to ISO 178, method A (3-point bending test) on 80 mm samples × 10 mm × 4 mm, and (B) from 5.0 wt.% to 40.0 wt.% of technical carbon in terms of total weight of semiconductor composition. Invention also relates to a cable having a semiconducting layer containing a semiconducting composition, and to use of the semiconducting composition as an inner and / or outer semiconducting layer for medium and high voltage cables.
EFFECT: obtaining a semiconducting composition with good processability, good conductivity, good mechanical properties.
