FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polymer composition with improved electrical properties at direct current, to application of composition for obtaining layer of power cable and to power cable. power cable contains conductor, surrounded by at least internal semiconductor layer, insulating layer and external semiconductor layer, in said order. At least insulating layer consists of polymer composition, which includes (a) from 0.1 to 30 wt % of homopolymer of low pressure ethylene or copolymer of low pressure ethylene, including from 0.1 to 15 mol % of one or more C3-20 alpha-olefin comonomer (comonomers), and (b) from 99.9 to 70 wt % of homopolymer or copolymer of low density ethylene (LDPE).
EFFECT: obtained power cable possesses good mechanical properties and properties with respect to initiation of thermal cracking, expressed as TSCR (thermal stress cracking), which are unexpectedly sufficient for application in DC cable.
