FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to film materials for vacuum packaging of food products. Most gas-impermeable polymer is used – polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Intrinsic property of PVA not susceptible to thermomechanical processing is overcome by placing a film layer of PVA obtained from its aqueous solution between two layers formed by a terpolymer of methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate and acrylic or methacrylic acid. Oxygen atoms of ester groups of acrylates form hydrogen bonds with hydrogen atoms of hydroxyl groups of PVA, preventing the latter from forming their own interactions.
EFFECT: enabling production of four-layer films with high gas impermeability, surpassing known multilayer materials based on copolymers of vinyl alcohol and ethylene (EVOH).
