FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine the area of metamorphoses in the visual field and the degree of their manifestation. For this purpose, the patient monocularly on a black background in the centre of square 20×20 angular degrees a white point is presented, where the patient is offered to fix his or her gaze during the whole examination. Vertical and then a horizontal section of red colour passing through the fixation point is presented. Then, first, 8 horizontal and then 8 vertical segments are presented, moving away from the fixation point with interval of 2.5 angular degrees. Thickness of the sections increases in proportion to the distance from the fixation point. Horizontal and vertical segments identified by the patient as curved are defined as a metamorphosis zone. Then, in this area, horizontal and vertical dotted segments are presented with a given fixed distance between points from 0.1 to 2.0 angular degrees with pitch of 0.1 angular degrees. Dashed segments are presented at 2.5 degrees from each other until the patient identifies each of the presented segments as a straight line. At the end, the degree of manifestation of metamorphoses is determined as the distance between points of such a segment in degrees.
EFFECT: invention enables to determine the exact localization of the metamorphosis zone in the visual field, in which the patient has reduced visual quality due to visible distortions, as well as a degree of manifestation of distortions in this area, which in turn increases the effectiveness of diagnosis and accuracy of assessing the results of the treatment.
