FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine progression of initial and advanced glaucoma. Static perimetry and examination of the central visual field are performed according to program 24-2. Average value of light sensitivity from five points of the upper nasal sector is determined: four are located along the horizontal axis in interval from 9 to 30° from fixation point, one by 6° above the point located at 21° from the fixation point along the horizontal axis (Scp.1), average value of light sensitivity from the same points in the mirror located sector of the lower half of the field of view (Scp.2), average value of light sensitivity from two points from the upper and two from the lower half of the field of view with the highest value of light sensitivity (Scp.3). If Scp.1/Scp.2 is greater than 1, the early glaucoma index is calculated as the ratio Scp.2/Scp.3. If Scp.1/Scp.2 is less than or equal to 1, then an early glaucoma index is calculated as the ratio Scp.1/Scp.3. Examination is repeated not earlier than 4 months later, and if the index decreases by more than 0.12, progression of glaucoma is determined.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of adequate assessment of functional changes in early and advanced stages of glaucoma for selection of therapeutic approach due to quantitative assessment of static perimetry data.
