FIELD: test equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing equipment, in particular to testing for total leakage of products, such as spacecraft, and can be used in nuclear, chemical industry and machine building, where higher requirements are imposed on reliability of products and reliability of results of their tests for tightness. Method of testing articles for total leakage consists in the fact that the product is placed in an accumulation volume filled with air at atmospheric pressure, the accumulation volume is sealed, measuring the value of the initial concentration of the test gas in the accumulation volume, filling the article with the test gas to the excess test pressure, article is held under excess test pressure of control gas for accumulation of control gas in accumulation volume for a given time, at the end of the holding time, the value of the final concentration of the control gas in the accumulation volume is measured, value of total leakage of the article is estimated by measured values of initial and final concentration of the control gas in the accumulation volume. Before filling the article with the test gas to the test pressure, the value of the rate of decrease of the initial concentration of the test gas in the accumulation volume is measured, at the end of the holding time, reducing the test pressure of the test gas in the article to atmospheric pressure, after which the value of the rate of reduction of the final concentration of the control gas in the accumulation volume is measured, and the value of the total leakage of the article is estimated taking into account the measured values of the rate of reduction of the initial and final concentration of the control gas in the accumulation volume before the article is filled with the control gas to the test pressure and after the test pressure of the control gas in the article is lowered to atmospheric pressure, respectively.
EFFECT: improving reliability of results of testing products for total leakage by accumulation method at atmospheric pressure using test gases taking into account drift of leak detector readings.
