FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: article is placed in accumulation vessel to measure initial concentration of check gas. Said vessel is filled with check gas to excess test pressure to article to be kept thereat for preset time. Final concentration of check gas is measured to decide on article leakage proceeding from difference in final and initial concentration of check gas in accumulation vessel. Note here that, in compliance with this invention, after placing article in accumulation vessel and prior to measuring check gas initial concentration, portion of check gas is fed into said vessel to define air exchange thereof with ambient atmosphere by mathematical relationship disclosed in device claim. Article leakage is defined proceeding from difference in final and initial concentration of check gas in accumulation vessel with due allowance for air exchange thereof with ambient atmosphere, by mathematical relationship disclosed in device claim.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of tightness control.
