FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, namely to a source of electrical energy based on microbial fuel cells. In the microbial fuel cell, the anode and cathode are made of ferromagnetic material, permanent magnets are fixed on the surfaces of the anode and cathode, on the surfaces of the anode and cathode magnets there are porous layers of a ferromagnetic current-conducting powder with fraction of 80-120 mcm, on the surfaces of the cathode and particles of the powder layer placed on it, a biofilm of green algae is formed, and on the surfaces of the anode and particles of the powder layer placed on it, a biofilm of electrogenic bacteria is formed. Particle size of the powder layers of 80-120 mcm enables to ensure through porosity of the electrode and the supply of the nutrient medium to the surface of the electrode. Biofilm on the surfaces of the powder particles can be formed outside the microbial fuel cell without interrupting its operation.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the microbial fuel cell by increasing current density.
