FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. Persistent corneal erosion is treated by administering insulin. Under biomicroscopic control after preliminary anaesthesia, total de-epithelisation of cornea is performed, and then, using a contact diaphragm with diameter of 6 mm and a long-wave UV apparatus with wavelength of 365 nm, power of 90 W, a local irradiation of the cornea is performed for 45 min from distance of 20 cm. That is followed by instillations of the antibacterial preparation Tobrex 4 times a day, as well as Corneregel 4 times a day, and additionally instillations of insulin in concentration of 0.5 IU/ml 4 times a day.
EFFECT: method enables to stimulate synthesis of insulin-like growth factor in corneal tissues, which leads to stimulation of proliferation and migration of epithelial cells, accelerating the process of epithelisation of wounds on the corneal surface, at the same time reducing inflammation, reducing the probability of recurrent corneal defect.
