SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to dentistry and is intended for use in dental practice in prosthetics with an artificial dental crown. Preliminary confirmation of the external colour of the crown is carried out after installation on the abutment tooth of the patient; the crown is made according to the CAD/CAM technology using a milling workpiece made of a non-metallic material and having a certain colour scheme of the surface. At that, method of crown external colour confirmation comprises the following steps, at which: preparing a set of instruments containing a combination of a support tooth model and a crown model, where the abutment tooth model comprises a portion of the abutment tooth, which has a colour scheme of the surface identical to the colour scheme of the surface of the abutment tooth, and is shaped to the abutment tooth; crown model has a surface colour scheme identical to the crown surface colour scheme, is made with shaping the crown by CAD/CAM technology using a milling workpiece identical to the milling workpiece to be used for the crown formation, and comprises an open cavity corresponding to the abutment tooth portion of the abutment tooth model. External colour of the crown model is confirmed before and after the abutment tooth section is inserted into the open cavity of the crown model.

EFFECT: invention, by determining the colour of the tooth to be restored, enables to select a milling HR-workpiece, which includes a milled section having a colour which is consistent with the obtained colour determination, which provides a highly aesthetic restoration.
