SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment for non-contact determination of viscosity of a substance, heterogeneous and colloidal compositions in chemical, construction, agricultural, food and pharmaceutical industries when analysing viscosity of both finished products and semi-products thereof. Method for remote determination of viscosity includes deformation of the surface of a substance, measurement of deformation parameters, determination of viscosity using laser radiation. Deformation of the surface of the substance is carried out by periodic impact effects, the value of viscosity of the substance is determined from parameters of surface deformation, which are measured by the degree of damping of oscillations performed by the laser beam reflected from the surface.

EFFECT: faster method of determining viscosity, possibility of using it in difficult process conditions.
