FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to X-ray diagnostics, and can be used to assess lung volume in children. Patient undergoes computed tomography of the chest, determining the volume of each lung, calculating the asymmetry coefficient of lung volumes. If Klas is more than 1.23, a decrease in the volume of the left lung is determined. If Klas is less than 1.1, a decrease in the volume of the right lung is determined. If Klas, from 1.23 to 1.1, physiological asymmetry is determined.
EFFECT: method enables assessing the severity of the thoracic insufficiency syndrome and assessing the dynamics of lung volume ratios after spinal and sternocostal surgery by determining the lung volume asymmetry coefficient.
