SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to transportation of paper sheets. Paper sheet guide drive mechanism includes: a transfer surface which guides one surface of the paper sheet; transportation guides, which are located along both side edges of transportation surface in direction of width opposite to each other and which respectively guide both side edges of conveyed paper sheet; an extension/retraction mechanism that causes the conveyance guides to be synchronously extended and retracted in a predetermined direction; stoppers, each of which limits a protruding position, in which the transportation guides protrude most from the transportation surface, and a retracted position, which is retracted from the protruding position in the direction of the transportation surface, respectively; DC motor, which drives the extension/retraction mechanism; extension/retraction mechanism includes a gearing which is driven by a DC motor to cause each of the transportation guides to extend and retract between a protruding position and a retracted position, and an inertia absorption mechanism that absorbs and reduces the moment of inertia of the DC motor transmitted from the output shaft of the DC motor to the gear train, when the DC motor stops at the moment when the transportation guides are stopped by the stops in each of the protruding position and the retracted position. Device for transportation of paper sheets includes a drive mechanism for transportation of paper sheets; friction transfer device, which, when the paper sheet is subjected to a reaction force in a direction different from the normal transfer direction during movement of the paper sheet along the transfer surface, moves the paper sheet while reducing the transport grip during the period during which the paper sheet is subjected to a reaction force; and control unit. Method of transporting paper sheets by a device for transporting paper sheets, in which a control unit stops parts of the guide of narrow paper sheets in an initial position, where both side edges of the narrow paper sheet moved along the transportation surface can be guided in the narrow paper sheet transportation mode; control unit stops parts of the guide of wide paper sheets in the initial position, where both side edges of the wide paper sheet moved along the transportation surface can be guided in the mode of transportation of the wide paper sheet, and, when the narrow paper sheet, which has passed the transportation guides, must be returned in the narrow paper sheets transportation mode, operation of return is performed after actuation of mechanism of extension/retraction for movement of parts of guide of wide paper sheets to initial position. Device for processing paper sheets includes a device for transportation of paper sheets.
EFFECT: correction of paper sheets inserted from different positions and angles into normal transportation state, continuously moving paper sheets without interruption, as well as processing paper sheets having different widths, and preventing jamming caused by transportation guides during paper sheet return.
