FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of spiral grooves on outer surface of cylindrical shell. Shaping tool is installed on drawing mill in form of drawing die, on inner surface of which there are spiral wedge protrusions with angle of rise of 10° up to 45°. Mandrel is secured inside drawing die, its outer diameter being equal to inner diameter of cylindrical shell. Cylindrical shell is drawn through a drawing die with a fixed mandrel. Drawing die turn about its axis is performed due to created torque.
EFFECT: expansion of technological capabilities for producing shells by obtaining longer cylindrical shells with spiral grooves located on the outer surface of a long shell in one working stroke.
