FIELD: metal forming.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used for making cylindrical shells with lengthwise grooves on outer surface. Mandrel is secured inside drawing die with lengthwise wedge-like ledges. Shell is drawn through not having possibility of rotation around its axis die with mandrel with thinning of shell wall in places of contact with projections of die. Outer diameter of mandrel is equal to inner diameter of shell. Height of drawing die ledges exceeds depth of shell lengthwise grooves. When the shell is drawn, its internal and external diameters are not changed along the formed longitudinal projections and a gap is obtained between the drawing die cavities and the cylindrical shell along the above external diameter.
EFFECT: expansion of technological capabilities by obtaining longer shells with longitudinal grooves located on the outer surface.
