FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to diagnostics, hepatobiliary surgery, and can be used to determine pressure in a portal vein in liver cirrhosis. Hepatic and spleen elastometry is performed, liver and spleen tissue stiffness is determined in kPa. That is followed by spiral computed tomography (CT) of the portal vein system and determining the number of porto-system shunts. Portal pressure (p) is measured, mm Hg, according to the original formula.

EFFECT: method is non-invasive, reliable and enables to determine pressure in the portal vein in the patients with hepatic cirrhosis, prevents the damage of blood vessels, hepatic capsule and bile ducts, prevents the risk of haemorrhage, reduces radiation exposure on the patient and personnel by non-invasive assessment by elastometry and CT.
