METHOD OF NON-INVASIVE ASSESSMENT OF PRESSURE IN PORTAL VEIN SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B6/00

Abstract RU 2811002 C1

FIELD: medicine; radiation diagnostics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for non-invasive assessment of pressure in the portal vein system. Magnetic resonance imaging of the spleen is performed. In the T2-weighted image, the spleen is marked in the axial section. Using the “pixel value” program, the volumetric mass of the spleen (VMS, cm3) is calculated. With VMS values from 161 to 299 cm3, the pressure in the portal vein system is defined as equal to from 250 to 400 mm H2O, which corresponds to stage I portal hypertension. With VMS values from 300 to 339 cm3, the pressure in the portal vein system is defined as equal to from 401 to 600 mm H2O, which corresponds to stage II portal hypertension. For VMS values greater than or equal to 400 cm3, the pressure in the portal vein system is defined as greater than or equal to 601 mm H2O, which corresponds to stage III portal hypertension. With VMS values from 141 to 160 cm3, the pressure in the portal vein system is defined as equal to from 11 to 249 mm H2O, which corresponds to the risk of developing portal hypertension. With VMS values from 80 to 140 cm3, the pressure in the portal vein system is defined as equal to 5 to 10 mm H2O, which corresponds to the norm.

EFFECT: method provides non-invasive assessment and monitoring of pressure in the portal vein system by determining VMS.
