SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a filter element for mouthpieces intended for use with smoking articles or heat not burn smoking devices (HNB). Filter material has the main part of the filter formed from a bundle material, wherein the bundle material is formed by a plurality of elementary threads/fibres from cross-linked and crimped fibres from cellulose acetate. Cellulose acetate fibres, in particular, have a polygonal and preferably Y-shaped cross-sectional shape, and the bundle material has a specific surface area per unit weight of less than 0.15 m2/g, more specifically less than 0.3 m2/g and more than 0.025 m2/g.
EFFECT: providing low resistance to drawing of filtering element and low filtration capacity, high hardness on scale of hardness of Filtrona.
