FIELD: wireless communication.

SUBSTANCE: at a base station (BS) of a wireless communication system, one or more configurations of CSI-RS port groups are set and configuration parameters for transmitting channel state information (CSI) are transmitted to user equipment (UE). Configuration parameters contain at least for each of one or more configurations of CSI-RS port groups, parameters of codebook corresponding to this configuration of CSI-RS port groups. Codebook is formed by a corresponding set of discrete Fourier transform vectors (DFT vectors). CSI reference signals (CSI-RS) are transmitted by means of BS. At the UE, a subset of DFT vectors is selected from the set of DFT vectors of the codebook corresponding to this configuration of CSI-RS port groups, wherein the corresponding codebook is determined at the UE using the received configuration parameters. CSI is generated and the generated CSI is transmitted to the BS. At least one beamforming matrix (BF matrix) is obtained at the BS for UL reception, wherein the BF matrix is obtained based on information on a subset of DFT vectors from the CSI, received from the UE.

EFFECT: reduction of associated computational complexity at a base station BS due to use of a new codebook structure and support of various levels of spatial compression of ports.
