FIELD: communication technique.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication and more specifically to extended channel property reporting for communication systems employing massive MIMO or extremely massive MIMO (X-MIMO). Method of controlling communication with UE (user equipment) implemented by BS (base station), which takes into account the frequency and/or spatial correlation properties of the communication channel between the BS and the UE, transmitting one or more reference signals, which are a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), receiving from UE in CSI report at least one value of communication channel property in spatial domain (SDCP) and/or at least one value of communication channel property in frequency domain (FDCP), wherein the SDCP value is a spatial channel correlation corresponding to at least some of the CSI-RS antenna ports, and the FDCP value is a channel frequency correlation corresponding to at least some subcarriers of the CSI-RS antenna port; determining one or more values of one or more configuration parameters from signal transmission configuration parameters and CSI calculation configuration parameters based on at least one SDCP value and/or at least one FDCP value received from the UE; and transmitting to the UE at least one value from the determined one or more values of the one or more configuration parameters, respectively.

EFFECT: high efficiency of the communication system compared to that of a communication system in which selection of configuration parameters of the communication system is based exclusively on a metric of correlation properties of the channel in the time domain.
