FIELD: wireless communication.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication and more specifically to a base station transmitting device with a configurable antenna element group (RSA) architecture and a corresponding method of obtaining channel state information (CSI). Disclosed is a base station transmitting device comprising an antenna array consisting of antenna elements divided into groups. For each group of antenna elements, the transmitting device has a transmission circuit having a power amplifier. At least some power amplifiers in the transmitting device are configured to be switched off during operation of the base station. Transmitting device also has a system of switches, where each switch is connected to at least two transmission circuits. Switch comprises a power divider subsystem and is configured when signals from the power amplifiers of one or more of said at least two transmission circuits are transmitted to the corresponding one or more inputs of the switch, and the power amplifiers of the rest of the at least two transmission circuits are disconnected condition, by means of subsystem of power dividers to direct the incoming signals from the above corresponding one or more inputs of the switch to outputs of the switch. Present invention also discloses a method of obtaining and transmitting CSI for using RSA.

EFFECT: providing support for flexible dynamic switching between the main and power-saving mode(s) of the base station, with avoiding a decrease in the antenna gain in any power-saving mode, as well as reducing network overhead associated with requesting and reporting CSI for different operating modes of the base station.
