FIELD: electric power industry.

SUBSTANCE: method of ice removal from contact wire of electric traction network consists in action on it with superheated steam of high pressure. Steam is supplied directly to the contact wire by nozzles attached to the skid of the current collector with a fixed gap in the vertical plane between the nozzles and the contact wire, implemented by the carbon-graphite contact insert of the current collector, level of attachment in the vertical plane of the unit of steam supply nozzles on the skid of the pantograph, as well as due to the lifting mechanism of the pantograph with a pressure regulator.

EFFECT: reduced time of ice removal, possibility of removal of ice with wall thickness of more than 40 mm, reduced probability of local overheating and damage of contact suspension, obtaining dry cleaned surface.
