FIELD: obtaining microcrystalline cellulose.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing microcrystalline cellulose, involving mixing bleached softwood or hardwood cellulose with water, destruction of cellulose material by exposure to a solution of mineral acid with concentration of 2-3 mol-eq/l for 1.5-2.0 hours at temperature of 80-90 °C at hydromodule 10-15:1, with product washing and drying. Before treatment with acid, cellulose is treated with amylase enzyme in amount of 0.001-0.010 % of weight of absolutely dry cellulose for 0.5-1.5 hours at temperature of 20-40 °C.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain microcrystalline cellulose with a degree of crystallinity of 80-85 % with reduced power consumption and reduced duration of the process.
