FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used for accurate determination of an antioxidant dose bioequivalent to a dose of ascorbic acid. Method for determining bioequivalence of substances with antioxidant activity consists in fact that 0.5 ml or 0.5 g of the substance (accurately weighed), depending on the aggregate state of the preparation, is quantitatively transferred into 50.0 ml measuring flask and brought to mark with 70% ethyl alcohol and thoroughly mixed, then 1.0 ml of titrated 0.02N potassium permanganate solution and 5 ml of 70% ethyl alcohol is placed in a conical flask, 1 ml of sulphuric acid solution 1/3 is added and titrated from the microburette with an antioxidant solution until decolouration of the solution. A similar experiment is carried out in parallel with 0.5 g (accurately weighed) of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Further, an equivalent dose of activity of ascorbic acid and the analysed preparation is calculated by formula: ED=(Y*aw)/(X*aao)*100%, where ED is an equivalent dose of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in percentage; Y is the volume of the ascorbic acid solution consumed for titration, ml; aw is a weighed portion of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), g; X is the volume of the solution of the analysed preparation consumed for titration, ml; aao is a weighed portion/aliquot of the analysed preparation, g. To calculate the dose of the antioxidant substance bioequivalent to the dose of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), the dose of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) should be divided by ED (equivalent dose) and multiplied by 100%.

EFFECT: invention enables to determine bioequivalence of newly obtained substances of antioxidant preparations and known preparations with undeclared antioxidant properties, as well as calculate an adequate bioequivalent dose of the antioxidant preparation in terms of the antioxidant activity of ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
