SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of preservation and protection of objects of cultural legacy, namely architectural landmarks made of wood. Method of protecting historical wood of architectural landmarks from mycological destruction includes cleaning historical wood from contaminants and dust, drying historical wood and applying an impregnating composition based on coniferous tree resin and modifiers – magnesium hydroxide and amorphous silicon dioxide with a nanoporous structure and specific surface area from 120 to 450 m2/g, with the following ratio of components, wt.%: resin of coniferous trees – 55.0-60.0, magnesium hydroxide – 39.4-44.0, amorphous silicon dioxide – 0.6-1.0.

EFFECT: proposed method of protecting historical wood of architectural landmarks from mycological destruction enables to increase the biostability of historical wood, high fire resistance and strength of the impregnating composition, as well as reducing the chemical destructive effect of the impregnating composition on historical wood and reducing the toxicity of the impregnating composition due to the absence of synthetic antiseptics in the impregnating composition.
