FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to technically pure titanium and its alloys, which can be used for making medical implants. Method of producing a bar from technically pure titanium for biomedicine, having a structure of ultra-fine grains of alpha-phase with a hexagonal close-packed lattice, involves intense plastic deformation of a workpiece from technically pure titanium at temperature not higher than 450 °C, wherein deformation is carried out by rotary reduction at deformation rates in range of 102-104 s-1 with total value of true deformation e≤2.2. Obtained bar from technically pure titanium has a structure of ultra-fine grains of the alpha phase with a hexagonal close-packed lattice, wherein it has a fibrous texture of deformation and a grain-subgrain type of structure, wherein the volume fraction of elongated grains in the size range of 0.1-3 mcm and with a grain shape factor of more than 2 in mutually perpendicular planes is not less than 80%, and subgrains formed inside elongated grains have low-angle boundaries, misaligned relative to neighbouring subgrains by angles of up to 15°.
EFFECT: bar has high mechanical characteristics, as a result of which its operational characteristics are improved.
